    The core of the smelting process is the "transfer of heat from the furnace to the metal," and the graphite crucible is a key intermediate link in this process:


    The melting furnace transfers heat to the graphite crucible through its heating method (such as induction heating or radiant heating);

    Graphite, with its excellent thermal conductivity, further conducts the absorbed heat to the solid metal inside, accelerating its melting;

    Meanwhile, the high-temperature resistance of graphite (melting point around 3850°C) ensures it remains unmelted and undeformed in the high-temperature furnace environment, providing a stable "bridge" for heat transfer.

    For example, in a medium-frequency induction melting furnace, the alternating magnetic field generated by the induction coil directly acts on the metal (inducing eddy currents for heating), but the graphite crucible not only holds the metal but also helps evenly distribute temperature through its own thermal conductivity, avoiding local overheating or uneven melting of the metal.

    The graphite crucible protects the melting furnace: It directly isolates the molten metal from the furnace body (such as refractory bricks, induction coils, and furnace linings), preventing high-temperature molten metal from corroding or damaging the furnace structure and extending the service life of the melting furnace.

    The melting furnace protects the graphite crucible: The furnace's insulation design (e.g., refractory layers) reduces heat loss, keeping the temperature around the crucible uniform and stable, and avoiding crucible cracking due to excessive local temperature differences;    the atmosphere control of some melting furnaces (such as vacuum or inert gas) also reduces oxidative loss of the graphite crucible at high temperatures (graphite is easily oxidized to CO₂ in high-temperature oxygen-containing environments).

    Jointly ensuring metal quality: The melting furnace reduces metal contamination by controlling temperature and atmosphere, while the graphite crucible, due to its high chemical stability (not easily reacting with most metals), prevents impurity mixing from the container itself into the molten metal.    Together, they ensure the purity of the molten metal.
